Elephant Talk Heads to Brussels

Meeting with MEPs to prepare our youth-led data presentation and dialogue on online gender-based body shaming across the EU

Over the past few days, we have had the great pleasure and honour of meeting with various Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and their assistants from Italy, Portugal, Greece and Romania. The purpose of our visit was to present and co-organise the Elephant Talk “Youth and MEP in Dialogue” event, which is scheduled to take place in Brussels in October 2025.

During the upcoming event, youth delegations from each local context will present the findings we have gathered about young people’s experience and understanding of online gender-based body shaming across seven European Union countries. Following the presentation, the youth and other civil society representatives will engage in meaningful dialogue with MEPs about areas of intervention and collaborative action – from grassroots initiatives to top-down institutional change.

Many thanks to the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) involved in this process: Leoluca Orlando, Nikalaos Pappas, Benedetta Scuderi, Elena Kountoura, Nicolae Ștefănuță, for your time, interest and energy; as well as policy advisors and members of the Femme Working Group and assistants Joana Soares, Paola Lupi, Iuliana  Rof, Beatrice Rosica and Kyriaki Mouzaki.
